The Adventures of Pinocchio is a children's classic. It is Italy's one of the most read books. Carlo Lorenzini was born in Florence in 1820, of humble parents. He took the pseudonym of Collodi from the village of Collodi where his beloved mother was born. In 1881 Collodi was in urgent need of money, and his "Pinocchio" was born out of inspiration and necessity. The characters of "Pinocchio" are vivid and remain with us for a long time.
